Why become a vegan?

Animal rights

The moral value of animals raises many questions. If animals have value as individuals, should we save hares from foxes? Haven’t humans always used animals?

Living conditions of animals

Today, farm animals are kept in industrial conditions. Farms are bigger than ever, which means that individual care is rare or nonexistent.

Animal sentience

Studies show that many of our prevailing views about animals are contradictory and unfounded. In addition to different species having unique abilities, their similarities to humans are greater than we tend to think.

Health

Nutrition experts and doctors urge us to eat more vegetables. Cancer societies and nutritional recommendations tell us to eat less meat. Despite this, Finnish people still do not meet the recommendations for eating vegetables.

The environment

Animal farming overconsumes the Earth’s limited resources and damages the environment. It is a central factor in global environmental issues and inequality.
